Our understanding of the Inernational Basketball Association
The International Basketball Association was an organization based in Washington D.C. and was formed to promote and enhance healthy living, social responsibility, and leadership skills through the medium of basketball to youth and adults globally. Unlike professional organizations, which primarily exist for entertainment purposes, the IBA is first and foremost a social awareness organization. When children are involved in sports, they more readily learn other constructive, life enhancing concepts that are transferable to their everyday lives such as HIV/AIDS prevention, career development, and a positive perspective on life.
The mission is to serve youth and young adults throughout the United States, Africa and Central America through the vehicle of basketball by translating the precepts embodied in this popular sport into a code for living. Every step, which leads to personal enrichment ultimately, will translate into a lifetime of meaningful contributions to society, regardless of social economic status. While promoting a specific ethical system of life enhancing alternatives, the IBA seeks to impart a general code of moral conduct within the specific context of the LiveRight-PlayRight (LRPR) curriculum.
